<p><strong>LDAP</strong> is a standardized protocol used to access and manage centralized directory information. In a PBX environment, LDAP integration enables centralized management of extensions.</p>

<p>PBX supports <strong>both modes</strong>:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>LDAP Server</strong></li>

<li><strong>LDAP Client</strong></li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large image-border"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="305" src="https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4-1024x305.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8740" srcset="https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4-1024x305.png 1024w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4-300x89.png 300w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4-768x229.png 768w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4-1536x458.png 1536w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4-18x5.png 18w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-4.png 1831w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p style="font-size:25px"><strong>LDAP Server</strong></p>

<p>The LDAP service and <strong>LDAP Server mode</strong> are enabled by default in the PBX system.</p>

<p>In this mode, the PBX operates as an internal LDAP directory server. The PBX stores and manages directory information such as extensions and call center&#8217;s contacts, allowing external devices to query it directly.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large image-border"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="414" src="https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-2-1024x414.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8713" srcset="https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-2-1024x414.png 1024w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-2-300x121.png 300w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-2-768x311.png 768w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-2-18x7.png 18w, https://wiki.xontel.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-2.png 1501w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p style="font-size:25px"><strong>LDAP Client</strong></p>

<p>When the PBX is configured in <strong>LDAP Client mode</strong>, it connects to an external LDAP directory server to retrieve directory information.</p>

<p>In call center environments, this mode allows the PBX to Retrieve contact records from an external LDAP directory</p>
